Short version of this review: JUST BUY THEM!Long version for those who absolutely need the nitty gritty.Been doing Crossfit WODs since 2009 so it’s safe to say I’ve done a lot of sit-ups. Even strict situps with out an abdominal exercise mat. Sometimes a hundred sit-ups in one WOD for time. You may be thinking, “Hey this guy loves sit-ups, that’s why he’s reviewing a product for sit-ups!” Spoiler alert. I hate any kind of ab work. But hey, whether you love them or hate them it’s gotta be done, right? I’ve done my fair share and will begrudgingly continue to do so. Reasons to have credibility to write this review established. Here’s another one. Immediately after taking it out of the box, guess what I did. 100 sit-ups on this new bad boy! BOOM! I’m that serious about my gear. Compared to all the ab exercises that I’ve ever done on any “abmat” I have to admit that I was more pleased than displeased. I own an original Abmat and I have to say it’ll be hard to choose it over the Athlos from now on.The build quality is great in my opinion. It has a premium feel and definitely is worth the investment. The padding is firm and supportive. After doing a side by side comparison with my Abmat, the Athlos wins on quality of materials used and craftsmanship. One thing that I really like about this mat is that it actually stays in place during your set. This became quickly apparent as I was plowing through the first 100 sit-ups I performed on them. Yes, I was able to plow through those sit-ups because there was less discomfort and stress on my tailbone. Well whaddya know, a product that does what it claims!Do yourself a favor and get one. They’re that good. Coming from a guy that hates sit-ups that says a lot. I’m willing to bet that if you bring one of these mats to your CF box, you’ll be the envy of your friends and their tailbones. Admit it, every crossfitter loves showing off their new gear.
